Dr Robert Routier has been in private practice at the Olivedale Clinic since 1997. He trained at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, qualifying with an MBBCh in 1985.
He did internships at the J. G. Strijdom Hospital, and trained as a specialist physician at the Wits Johannesburg hospital complex and was admitted to the Fellowship of the College of Physicians FCP(SA) in 1993.
Dr Routier completed a cardiology fellowship in 1995 and worked as a consultant at Hillbrow and Johannesburg Academic hospitals. He served as a consultant to the Mines Benefit Hospital in Johannesburg and was a visiting specialist at Western Deep Levels and Leslie Williams Memorial hospitals. He has an interest in miners’ health and aviation related cardiology.
